Great news this weekend as MTV dubbed Maybach Music’s own Rick Ross as The Hottest MC in the Game. Despite the setback of releasing of Ross’ forthcoming album, God Forgives, I Don’t due to a series of medical woes last year, Ross’s 2011 was larger than life.

Ricky Rozay’s ascension to the top of the rap game began in February when he inked a Maybach Music Group label deal with Warner Brothers, and subsequently added budding heavy-hitters Meek Mill & Wale to his roster, who also rank on MTV’s list of lyricits at #7 and #10, respectively.

Ross has cultivated his formula for success and that is now more apparent than ever as The Untouchable Maybach Empire continues to dominate both the charts and the streets. The release of the first MMG compilation effort, Self Made Vol. 1, spawned hits such as “Tupac Back,” “I’m a Boss,” and “That Way.” Followed by an appearance on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” with YMCMB’s Drake & Lil Wayne, it became crystal clear that Rick Ross and MMG were a force to be reckoned with.

MTV Jams’  Tuma Basa points to Ross’ star-making ability with Meek and Wale. “He’s making other people hot, and these are people, without Ross, may not have been on this list. They’re on this list thanks to Ross.”

Rozay released two singles in 2011: the Nicki Minaj assisted “You Da Boss,” and “I Love My Bitches.” However, it was the December release of his Rich Forever mixtape with DJ Scream and Shaheem Reid that further solidified Ross’ top spot and boasted street anthems “Stay Schemin” with Drake and French Montana, and “Yella Diamonds.”

Yesterday, Rick Ross gave us the very cinematic trailer to “Yella Diamonds.” Today, we have the video. “Yella Diamonds” is a track featured on Ross’ latest mixtape, Rich Forever, which has been doing numbers. God Forgives, I Don’t, is expected to be released early spring.

Fresh of the heels of her Superbowl halftime performance with Madonna, Nicki Minaj has announced her upcoming plans to release her new single, plans for the Grammy Awards, and her performance at the NBA All-Star game.

With her sophomore LP, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded set for an April 3rd release, Nicki is giving her fans another dose of what can be expected on her new album, with her plans to release two new singles. This coming Sunday, Nicki will debut “Roman Holiday,” a new song from her album, during her performance at the award show. Nicki, who is nominated for 4 awards including Best New Artist, will release the song to iTunes immediately following the telecast of 54th award ceremony.

The following day, February 13, Nicki will debut her new single, “Starships” on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. “Starships” will also be available for purchase on iTunes the same day.

In addition to her new promo run, Nicki will be performing live in Orlando for the NBA’s All-Star game on February 26. 

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded will be in-store and online April 3. Pre-Orders for her new album will be available February 27.

Today, YMCMB’s own Lil Wayne dropped the video for the Bruno Mars assisted, “Mirror.” Directed by Antoine Fuqua, “Mirror” is a bonus cut, found on Wayne’s platinum selling Tha Carter IV LP, that catches the Young Money MC expressing himself through art. Tha Carter IV is in stores and online now.

Check out the visuals to Future’s “Magic” Remix featuring T.I. The pair shot the video last year at the popular Atlanta strip club, Magic City. Over the weekend, Young Money MC, Nicki Minaj released the video for her promo single, “Stupid Hoe.” The video was directed by Hype Williams, and fans will definitely get to see Nicki up to her usual crazy antics in this video. “Stupid Hoe” is set to appear on her on sophomore LP, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which was recently pushed back to April 3. The LP was originally scheduled to be released on February 14. Meanwhile, Nicki has shot 2 more video; one for her other promotional single, “Roman in Mascow,” and the other for lead single “Va Va Voom,” which is set to be released to radio February 7.
